HTC has started teasing the rumoured Desire 8 smartphone and has revealed in a Weibo post that the phone will be unveiled on February 24. As the teaser is coming from HTC’s China unit, we believe that the phone will first go on sale in the Chinese market followed by other countries.
In related news, key specifications of the Desire 8 smartphone have leaked online and we now know that the phone will come with 1.2GHz quad-core Snapdragon 400 processor, 5.5-inch 720p HD display and 1GB of RAM.
The phone will also pack 13MP rear camera, 5MP front camera, 8GB of internal storage, microSD card slot, Android 4.4.2 with Sense 6.0 and the usual connectivity options.
HTC reportedly plans to release the phone in both dual-SIM as well as single-SIM versions. The dual-SIM model will be released in Asian markets, while the single-SIM model will reach US and Europe. The company will also launch Desire 8 TD-LTE and CDMA/ LTE variants for China and US (Sprint) respectively.
HTC D616W octa-core smartphone spotted in benchmark database
In more HTC related news, the rumoured octa-core smartphone from HTC has appeared on Aututu benchmark database. According to Antutu, the phone carries model number D616W and will come with Android 4.2.2, MediaTek MT6592 octa-core processor, and HD display.
The phone will also pack 8MP rear camera, 2MP front camera, 1GB of RAM and 4GB of internal storage.
Clearly, HTC seems to be planning quite a few new mid-range devices, as indicated by the company chairwoman Cher Wang recently.
