HTC seems to be getting ready to announce a new Desire-series smartphone. Dubbed as Desire 8, the phone has been leaked on Chinese-language website MyDrivers with key specifications.
According to MyDrivers, HTC Desire 8 will be a mid-range Android smartphone. It will feature a 5.5-inch display, 13MP rear camera, 5MP front camera and dual-SIM support. Other details are a mystery right now but we expect the phone to come with a quad-core processor and 1.5GB of RAM.
The absence of Android navigation buttons from the render makes it slightly dubious unless this is an early-render and the designer has somehow messed-up.
If the dates mentioned in the render are any indication, we could see the launch of this smartphone on March 18 in China. There is no word on whether it will be released in other countries.
When launcher Desire 8 will be the biggest mid-range Android from the company, which has only released one more over 5-inch smartphone – One Max but that is a high-end phone. We expect the company to make Desire 8 to compatible with Mini+, which is a companion accessory for large-screen devices.
In related news, HTC chairwoman Cher Wang has stated that HTC will focus more on entry-level and mid-range smartphones this year. She acknowledged that they were too concentrated on HTC One last year but 2014 will be different.
