HTC M8 press render & more details about HTC smartwatch plans revealed

The first full promo render of the HTC One successor (codenamed M8) has appeared online. Shared by @evleaks, this render shows the smartphone in Gold colour, which is rumoured to be one of the four colour options in which M8 will be released.

As you can see the phone looks a lot similar to HTC One but still there are a few tweaks. The use of plastic in M8 body is even less than HTC One. The only places where you can find plastic on the M8 body is the two thin stripes on the back cover, which go all the way to the screen, and the top of the phone. A corner of the top plastic is visible in the above render but you can see it in full in another leaked render, which has been posted by The Geek.

There are no other new details available at this point.

Update: @evleaks has shared two more press renders of the phone, which show M8 in different colours.

New details revealed about HTC’s smartwatch plans

Bloomberg is reporting that HTC is going to showcase the prototype of one of its smartwatches in a closed door meeting at Mobile World Congress next week. This particular smartwatch is based on Qualcomm’s Toq, which packs battery-saving Mirasol display.

“A smartwatch prototype based on Qualcomm Inc.’s Toq device will be previewed to carriers at the Mobile World Congress trade show, with no plans to unveil the device publicly,” Tim Cuplan of Bloomberg noted in the repot.

HTC reportedly is also developing a smartwatch using Google Now at the core, something which actually makes sense in a wearable. There are no specific details available right now but it is said to be packing an AMOLED display.

Along with these smartwatches, the Taiwanese manufacturer is also working on an electronic bracelet that can play music and track fitness related details of the consumers and will sport a thin touchscreen display.

HTC plans to release one or more of these wearables around the Christmas shopping season.
