Huawei unveils MediaPad X1, M1 tablets and TalkBand B1 accessory

Chinese telecom giant Huawei has announced the new MediaPad X1 and MediaPad M1 tablets as well as the new TalkBand B1 accessory at Mobile World Congress today. The tablets run on slightly outdated Android 4.2 Jelly Bean but we expect the company to release Android 4.4 KitKat update in the coming months.

“We’re excited to unveil our new 4G LTE-enabled MediaPads which, together with HUAWEI TalkBand B1, deliver the essential pillars of happiness – health, connection to family, contact with friends and access to work – without boundaries,” said Richard Yu, CEO, Huawei Consumer Business Group.

Coming to the specs, the Huawei MediaPad X1 features a 7-inch 1920x1200p display, 16GB of internal storage, 13MP rear camera, 5MP front camera and microSD card slot. The tablet also packs 1.6GHz quad-core HiSilicon Kirin 910 processor, 2GB of RAM and support for both TD-LTE and FD-LTE.

The tablet will support voice-calling and comes with a 5000 mAh battery.

According to the company, MediaPad X1 will go on sale in China, Russia, Western Europe, Middle East, Japan and Latin America beginning March this year. It will be sold at 399 euros.

On the other hand, MediaPad M1 comes with 8-inch 1280x800p display, 1.6GHz quad-core processor, 4800 mAh battery, 5MP rear camera and 1MP front camera. The tablet also packs LTE support like X1, Wi-Fi and front-facing speakers.

It will go on sale in Europe, Russia, the Middle East, China, Japan, Asia Pacific, Australia and Latin America sometime in Q1, 2014. It has been priced at 299 euros.

Lastly, the TalkBand B1 accessory is companion device for smartphones and tablets. It can wirelessly tracks activity time and progress, including steps taken, miles covered and calories burned. It intelligently records sleep duration and quality, while the smart alarm and nap functions assist rest. In addition, consumers can also make calls with the device using Bluetooth.

Huawei TalkBand B1 features a 1.4-inch flexible OLED display, 90 mAH battery, NFC and supports Android 2.3+ and iOS 5.0+ compatible devices, and syncs via NFC. It also packs a removable 9.4g earpiece.

TalkBan B1 will be available in China from March 2014, and in Japan, the Middle East, Russia and Western Europe from Q2 2014 for 99 euros.Huawei Talkband B1
