Moto G KitKat updateAs promised, Motorola has started rolling out Android 4.4.2 update for Moto G dual-SIM model in the Indian market.  230.7 MB in size, the update is available over-the-air and can be triggered by going to Settings << About Phone << System Update << Check Now.

The update brings Android 4.4.2 base, new version of dialler app, camera improvements and more. Check out the full change-log below.

  • Android 4.4.2, KitKat: Restyled status and navigation bars, immersive mode, colour emoji support, improved closed captioning support, stronger security, smarter power use, and more
  • Updated Phone dialler: Improved phone app with the ability to look up contacts directly from the dial pad
  • Improved Camera app: Locked exposure during Panorama capture, additional language support, Manual control of focus and exposure, Bug fixes
  • Updated Gallery: New photo editing options including new filter effects, draw on your photos, advanced cropping, and adjustments to colour, exposure, contrast and more.

In related news, Flipkart has started shipping some of the 16GB Moto G units, which were booked after the initial sell-out.

Guy Be careful , After Update my Wifi which was Good with Connection , is no more connecting , even did all resets, but looks like Radio issue, there may be some fix to this, until then try to postpone this update.

Try factory reset once. I have no issues with wifi.

Billions of users are trying to get the update from a set of limited servers. Thus it will be slow.

Downloading of the upgrade is too slow despite of connecting with a Wi-Fi of speed 2MBPS. However, the downloading speed for other apps is pretty good. Could anyone please help resolving this issue…?

after kitkat update my phone became dead slow and another major defect is that you cannot delete files fom internal storage… jelly bean is far better… dont go for any upgrade to kitkat

Try factory reset once. There might be duplication of files due to some reasons and conflicting app versions. I find Kitkat to be consumers 100MB less RAM with all the same apps running.

get in touch with the service center/flipkart for the issue.. i think it is device specific.

As some other people are saying, download speed of the kitkat package is very slow. I am on a high speed WiFi network and only 13 mb downloaded in 15 minutes and its showing estimated time of over 300 minutes.

My download speed was too slow which shows estimated time around 3000 minutes sometimes. I am using Wi-Fi with which all the other applications download works pretty good but why I am not getting the same download speed for Kikat? I don’t understand what is the exact problem here….

How do I reduce the number of home screens? Also, I am not getting Google Now in the extreme left screen!

      (February 15, 2014 - 2:31 pm)

you dont get google now in the left most homescreen with moto g thats a feature limited to nexus 5 for now, however you can sideload the launcher on your moto g its called the google experience launcher. just google it and download the apk

      (February 21, 2014 - 12:49 pm)

i hear google is planing to put up the nexus 5 launcher in play store.. A quick google search for the “Google Experience Launcher” will get you to the right apk in no time. Have tried it on the MotoG.. works like a charm.

PS: it will also reduce the unnecessary home screens.

*NOTE: I did not do factory reset.

        (February 21, 2014 - 12:19 pm)

Camera is slightly better, Go for a third party app for more power on the camera. Lots of options in the play store.

The download is for some reason too slow…
Is it the case with everybody?

      (February 14, 2014 - 7:20 pm)

Nopes.. Downloaded in less than 5 mins..

      (February 14, 2014 - 9:38 pm)

do a factory reset after update. should flush unused file and make the mobile snappy again.
