In related news, Flipkart has started shipping some of the 16GB Moto G units, which were booked after the initial sell-out.

      1. Camera app can be updated in the play store too..if you want..there’s no gel…nothing much is changed…seems like stock kitkat to me…like the ones you find on nexus devices …

      2. hey.. i dint get the time to chech it much.. but camera quality seems the same.. will get access to MotoG on monday.. will update soon.. RAM usage is better 50-100 mb extra free after the update..
*NOTE: I did not do factory reset.

      3. Camera is slightly better, Go for a third party app for more power on the camera. Lots of options in the play store.

    1. Harsh, kindly let me know how much ram is free after the kitkat update, (removing all external apps) ?? plz help me I am also planning to upgrade but ram availability is of prime importance to me

    1. It is fast after update,
400+ mb free after killing all app

      Buttery smooth,
New dialer app, may require time to get used to it

  1. How do I reduce the number of home screens? Also, I am not getting Google Now in the extreme left screen!

    1. you dont get google now in the left most homescreen with moto g thats a feature limited to nexus 5 for now, however you can sideload the launcher on your moto g its called the google experience launcher. just google it and download the apk

    2. i hear google is planing to put up the nexus 5 launcher in play store.. A quick google search for the “Google Experience Launcher” will get you to the right apk in no time. Have tried it on the MotoG.. works like a charm.

PS: it will also reduce the unnecessary home screens.

  2. As some other people are saying, download speed of the kitkat package is very slow. I am on a high speed WiFi network and only 13 mb downloaded in 15 minutes and its showing estimated time of over 300 minutes.

    1. My download speed was too slow which shows estimated time around 3000 minutes sometimes. I am using Wi-Fi with which all the other applications download works pretty good but why I am not getting the same download speed for Kikat? I don’t understand what is the exact problem here….

  3. after kitkat update my phone became dead slow and another major defect is that you cannot delete files fom internal storage… jelly bean is far better… dont go for any upgrade to kitkat

    1. Try factory reset once. There might be duplication of files due to some reasons and conflicting app versions. I find Kitkat to be consumers 100MB less RAM with all the same apps running.

  4. Downloading of the upgrade is too slow despite of connecting with a Wi-Fi of speed 2MBPS. However, the downloading speed for other apps is pretty good. Could anyone please help resolving this issue…?

  5. Billions of users are trying to get the update from a set of limited servers. Thus it will be slow.

  6. Guy Be careful , After Update my Wifi which was Good with Connection , is no more connecting , even did all resets, but looks like Radio issue, there may be some fix to this, until then try to postpone this update.

  7. HI guys.. i have updated my moto g android version 4.3 to 4.4.2, thereafter i am unable to open or delete files from internal storage. so can any one help?
    Thanks in advance.
