Samsung reveals Android 4.4 KitKat update plans for US devices


Android KitKatSamsung USA has announced the names of Android devices, which it plans to update to Android 4.4. In addition to the devices like Galaxy S4, Galaxy S3 and Note 3, the company will also release KitKat update for “Galaxy Mega, Note II and Note-series tablets.

Here is the full list of devices getting Android 4.4 from Samsung in the United States: Galaxy Note 3, Galaxy Note II, Galaxy S4, Galaxy S4 mini, Galaxy S4 Active, Galaxy S4 zoom, Galaxy S III, Galaxy S III mini, Galaxy Mega, Galaxy Light, Galaxy Note 8.0, Galaxy Tab 3, Galaxy Note 10.1, Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 Edition.

“The upgrade (KitKat) provides a number of innovative, easy-to-use features that enhance the user experience, including a more intuitive user interface, enhanced messaging capabilities and updated applications,” Samsung noted in a press release.

The update will also include enhanced location settings, support to choose between Messages app or Hangouts as the default texting app, and upgraded version of Google apps.

According to Samsung, the updates start today and will continue over the coming months. The company has not revealed, which devices will be the first to receive the KitKat update.

Samsung Galaxy S5 might be sold cheaper on-contract than Galaxy S4: Report

Bloomberg is reporting that Galaxy S5 might be sold cheaper on contract than previously generation Galaxy S models as it tries to counter to slowing smartphones sales.

“Samsung may start selling the new phone for less than previous models in the S series after encouragement by at least one wireless carrier,” Bloomberg noted in its report citing a person familiar with the matter.

    dont go for kitkat, it is rubbish u cannot delete any files saved in internal drive.. photos from whatsapp are stored in internal storage and even this cannot be deleted

    I use Galaxy note 10.1 which I brought from America. But right now I am in India so will that affect my device for the update? Please help.

        The “update” turns out to be nothing more than a stability update. Took me through the whole process like an OS upgrade and I ended up still on 4.3
