Airtel has announced that it has partnered with Nokia and will be releasing Nokia X Android phone in 17 African markets. The telecom operator will start rolling out the smartphone in mid-April.

Consumers can enjoy their favourite apps, the best of signature Nokia experiences and the most popular Microsoft Internet and cloud services, wrapped-up on a smartphone that holds-on the Nokia promise,” said ” Timo Toikkanen, executive vice president, Mobile Phones, Nokia.
Airtel will also be providing bundled data offers to the Nokia X buyers in these markets.
Originally introduced at Mobile World Congress, Nokia X is the company’s first Android smartphone and runs on a forked version of Android 4.1.2. The smartphone features a 4-inch WVGA display, dual-core processor, 512MB of RAM, 3MP rear camera and 1500 mAh battery.
The phone also come pre-loaded with HERE maps with turn-by-turn navigation and other Nokia and Microsoft services and apps.
