As we had reported, Flipkart has announced the launch of Moto X in the Indian market. Set to go on sale on March 19, the smartphone has been priced at INR 23,999. The pricing is in line with US, where it currently retails for $399.

Like Moto G, Moto X will be exclusively sold in the country by Flipkart and we don’t see any end to this exclusivity in the near future.

Originally introduced in US market last year, Moto X was the first smartphone to be made under Google-ownership of Motorola. The phone features a 4.7-inch AMOLED HD display, X8 computing platform packing 1.7GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, 2GB of RAM and 10MP rear camera. The phone runs on Android 4.4.2 out of the box and comes with software tweaks like Active Notifications, Touchless Control, Motorola Assist, Migrate and Connect.

The phone will retail in five colour options – Black, White, Royal Blue, Cherry, and Turquoise as well as two wood back versions – Teak and Walnut. We are not sure right now if wood back version will be priced higher as they are priced in US. Update: The wood back versions will be sold for INR 25,999. Flipkart has also noted that initially only White and Black versions will be on sale, however the consumers will be able to pre-order other colour versions, which will be shipped in second week of April.

Flipkart has also announced three launch day offers for Moto X, which include INR 1000 cashback with purchases on EMI, 70 percent discount on Moto X cases and 100 percent cashback for ten lucky customers.

Note: The Moto X orders will open in daytime on March 19 unlike the mid-night launch of Moto G.

  1. If this 24k is the price of 32GB one with wood back, then it will be a best buy. 20k for 16GB one will be a very nice price, imho… Hope it will climb to this point in a month or two…

  2. Just wondering – wouldn’t spending 5K more for the Nexus 5 be a better decision? Snapdragon 800, bigger 1080p screen, more available ROMs …

Unless you’re really into all the slightly gimmicky handsfree (gesture control) features, I personally believe that the N5 makes more sense – especially if you’re not into all the customizations!

The MG makes great sense at 12.5-14K, but not sure the MX makes a great deal of sense at that price. To each their own, I suppose!

    1. It’s Hardware is comparable to Nexus 4, and it’s price is also same as Nexus 4. Surprisingly, it costs the same in US and India

    2. Even Galaxy S4 is selling at Rs.27,500 in my city. I think its better to go for it rather than motox

    3. If you look at the performance there is no much difference with Nexus 5 except the screen size. Also Moto x has much better battery life compared to Nexus 5. Specs arent everything .You can see lot of comparisons with Nexus 5 ,S4 ,Htc One etc in youtube. When you consider the features like Touchless control and Active Notifications which are pretty useful its actually a good price. Price at which Moto x is sold here is very less compared to other markets like Australia and Europe

    4. Moto X is a different device it does not try to compete with Galaxy S4 and Nexus 5 with specs it tries to offer you a great device the body and handling is great the display processor and everything is adequate it is its battery life and software features that it par,and about that handsfree feature and install tasker you can do anything with just your voice
