Dropbox has announced the launch of the Android version of popular iOS app Mailbox and new Carousal app. Both applications are now available in Google Play for free.
Talking about Mailbox first, this app not only brings the usual e-mail app features but also includes the likes of snooze emails for later viewing or swipe to archive or trash. The app learns from your swipes and snooze actions to automate them, which is something that won’t find in other mail applications.
“Now with Auto-swipe, Mailbox learns from your swipes and snoozes to automate common actions. Mute that conversation you don’t care about, snooze messages from your friend to this evening, or route all of your receipts to a list — automatically,” Dropbox explains in Mailbox Google Play description.
Mailbox currently supports only Gmail and iCloud accounts, support for other email platforms is coming soon.
Coming to Carousal, this gallery app aims to bring all of your photos and videos to your mobile devices regardless of the available storage as most of them are backed up on Dropbox. It combines your device images with the cloud-stored ones, sorts and organises them for easier access.
“It (Carousal) combines the photos in your Dropbox with the photos on your phone, and automatically backs up new ones as you take them. Carousel sorts all these memories by event so you can easily travel back in time to any photo from any date,” Dropbox explains in a blog post.
This is not all, Dropbox has also included the social element in the app. It allows to privately share images and converse about them with your family and friends.
Key features of Carousal
- It’s a single home for all your photos and videos, automatically organized and always with you.
- Swap and share photos and videos instantly in private conversations. Save the memories your friends share with one tap.
- Carousel automatically backs up photos and videos to Dropbox as you take them, so all your memories are kept safe in one place.
