Samsung Galaxy S5 confirmed to be priced at INR 51,500 in India: Reports

Samsung Galaxy S5When Samsung introduced the Galaxy S5 smartphone for the Indian market on March 27 in New Delhi, the company had failed to reveal the exact pricing of the phone. It stated that S5 will get a price-tag between INR 51,000 and INR 53,000 but now two reports have appeared, which note that Galaxy S5 will have a best buy price of INR 51,500 in the country.

The first report comes from Mumbai-based Manish Katri of Mahesh Telecom, who has revealed the same price-tag even before the India announcement of the phone and has a decent track record with such revelations. Other report is from NDTV Gadgets, which states that it has confirmed the pricing from Samsung India directly, which has noted that Galaxy S5 will indeed have a best buy price of INR 51,500.

To remind you, Samsung Galaxy S5 is set to go on sale on April 11 in the country along with rest of the world (apart from South Korea, where it is already on sale). The phone features a 5.1-inch full HD Super AMOLED display, Exynos 5 Octa processor, 2GB of RAM, 16MP rear camera and KitKat.

51K for cheap plastic and a non-innovative-with-loads-of-bloatware UI. I don’t remember when Samsung did anything new with touchwiz. Pump up the hardware specs, add a couple of useless apps and flood the market with advertisements.

I don’t understand Samsung. Instead of launching it at such a ridiculous price and then reducing it every month why not launch it at a reasonable price and maintain the brand value. Apple does this so much better. Only one price drop a year. I feel sorry for people who’ll get it at this price.

And suddenly, the GS4 at ~27K starts making sooo much more sense. In any case, the price of this one is going to be under 40K in a few months time. Not that I could still afford it LOL!
