Xiaomi’s first tablet to sport 2048x1536p display, might cost just $160

Xiaomi logoA report originating from Taiwan suggests that Xiaomi’s much rumoured tablet might be priced at just 1000 yuan (USD 160). Even at such an attractively price-tag, the tablet will come with 7.85-inch QXGA (2048x1536p) display, reports Focus Taiwan citing Michael Zuo of Topology Research Institute.

As per Zuo, who has got his information from sources in China, Xiaomi is in talks with Intel and NVIDIA for the SoC requirements of this tablet and will choose one of the two.  The smartphone maker will be tapping Foxconn and Inventec for the manufacturing of this tablet, added Zuo.

No other details are known at this point but we expect to hear more about the tablet at the time of Mi-3 successor announcement. (Source)

Xiaomi unveils upgraded set-top box

In related news, Xiaomi has unveiled an upgraded set-top box for the Chinese market on Wednesday.

Powered by Android-based MIUI, this set-top box will cost just 399 yuan (USD 64) and support Ultra HD (4K) content. Dubbed as Mi-Box enhanced edition, it features 2GHz quad-core processor, 2GB of RAM, 4GB of internal storage, microSD card slot. No word on when it will go on sale.
