After a lot of leaks and teasers, Huawei today unveiled its flagship Ascend P7 smartphone at a press event in Paris.
The smartphone features a 5-inch full HD display and is powered by Huawei’s own 1.8GHz quad-core HiSilicon Kirin 910T processor. It also comes with 2GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage and microSD card slot. In addition, Huawei has included 13MP rear camera, 8MP front camera, 2500 mAh battery and LTE support on the smartphone.
On the software front, Ascend P7 runs on Android 4.4 with the company’s Emotion 2.3 user-interface on-top. Emotion UI version 2.3 brings a number of software tweaks like super power-saving mode, customizable lock and home screens, two enhanced UIs for effortless navigation, harassment filter, permission manager, network and notification management, and more. The camera app has also been filled with a bunch of new stuff like Voice Photo, which takes photos accompanied by 10-second audio clips.
According to Huawei, the smartphone will be released in Europe, Hong Kong, China, Middle-East and South-East Asia in May for €449. Other markets will follow.
Huawei hopes that Ascend P7 will help it further increase its smartphone market-share. According to IDC, Huawei was the third-biggest smartphone maker in Q1, 2014 with 4.9 percent market share.
