Temple Run games cross 1 billion downloads

Temple Run for AndroidGame developer Imangi Studios has announced today that its Temple Run and Temple Run 2 games have crossed 1 billion downloads.

“Having Temple Run reach the one billion downloads mark is a milestone we couldn’t have imagined when we first started out. We’re incredibly grateful to all the Temple Run players and our wonderful team. We look forward to continuing to grow the Temple Run franchise, as well as creating additional innovative games,” said Keith Shepherd, co-founder of Imangi Studios.

To remind you, the original Temple Run game was first released in August 2011 on iOS and came to Android in March 2012, followed by Windows Phone in March 2013. The sequel Temple Run 2 arrived in January 2013 on both iOS and Android. Both the games are only available on mobile devices.

While the 1 billion downloads milestone only includes Temple Run and Temple Run 2, Imangi Studios has also released two spin-offs in the form of  Temple Run: Brave and Temple Run: Oz in partnership with Disney, which have also been quite popular.

Among other casual games, Rovio’s Angry Birds games have also been downloaded over 1 billion times. If you have somehow missed the Temple Run, here is Imangi Infographic

One of the best games I’ve played on a phone – free or paid. Not as intense as FPS games or racing games, nor as boring as RTS games. And the best part for us cheapskates is that it’s free LOL! 😛

BTW, my other favorites are (in no particular order) Dead Trigger2, NFS – MW, Asphault7/8, Riptide GP2, Fruit Ninja, and of course that most glorious game of all – “Snake” LMFAO! *LOL*
