Intex introduces Cloud FX Firefox OS smartphone for INR 1,999

Intex Cloud FXDays after Spice unveiled its Firefox OS-powered Fire One smartphone, Intex has announced the launch of Cloud FX. Priced at INR 1,999, the phone is being released exclusively on Snapdeal.com, which is also exclusively retailing Spice Fire One for limited period.

With the launch of Intex Cloud FX, we aim to enable the masses to get smartphone experience at the cost of a feature phone. We are delighted to partner with Snapdeal.com, the partnership allows us to offer the smartphone pan-India at a revolutionary cost,” said Keshav Bansal, Director, Marketing, Intex Technologies.

The new Intex Cloud FX features a 3.5-inch HVGA display, 1GHz single-core processor, 128MB of RAM, 256MB of internal storage and microSD card slot. The phone also comes with 2MP rear camera, 2G Edge support, dual-SIM support and 1250 mAh battery. There is no front camera, GPS, or 3G support on the phone but it includes FM Radio, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity.

As you can see, this is really basic hardware and we are not sure if it is capable of providing decent smartphone experience. For only one or two thousand more rupees, one can get a more powerful Android smartphone, which not only will be a part of a better ecosystem but also provide a comparably better smartphone experience.

According to Intex, it has partnered with Aircel to provide 1GB of free data (valid for one month) with every Cloud FX smartphone.
