As expected, Sony on Thursday took the wraps of the new Xperia Z3 and Xperia Z3 Compact smartphones for the Indian market at a press event.

Originally unveiled at IFA trade fair in Berlin earlier this month, the new Z3 smartphones pack some impressive specifications and will be competing with the likes of new Moto X, LG G3, Samsung Galaxy S5 and HTC One M8 in the country.

The phones are powered by 2.5GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor and feature 20.7MP rear camera with 4K video recording support and LED flash as well as 2.2MP front shooter with full HD video support. Among other specifications, the phones come with Android 4.4, 16GB of internal storage, microSD card slot, NFC, 4G LTE support and water/ dust resistance.

As you can see most of the specifications are same in the two phones but Xperia Z3 sports a 5.2-inch full HD display and 3GB of RAM, while the Xperia Z3 Compact packs a 4.6-inch 720p HD display and 2GB of RAM.

According to Sony, the new Z3 smartphones include several improvements over their predecessors, which might not be visible in the specifications but are present, like a better camera, thinner profile, more battery life and 4G LTE support.

Pricing

Sony has priced the Xperia Z3 at INR 51,990, while the Z3 Compact will retail for INR 44,990. The phones will be available in classic White and Black colours as well as Copper (only Z3), Green (only Z3 Compact) and Orange (only Z3 Compact) as well.
