HTC earlier today officially took the wraps off the new Desire Eye smartphone as a part of its new focus on mobile imaging technologies. The Desire Eye is the company’s first smartphone to sport a 13MP wide-angle front-camera with dual-LED flash.
It is also the first phone from HTC to pack the company’s new Eye Experience, a suite of applications and software enhancement meant to take the mobile imaging to a new level.
HTC Desire Eye comes with a 5.2-inch full HD display, 2.3GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor, Android 4.4.4 with Sense 6 and 2GB of RAM. In addition, HTC has included 16GB of on-board storage, microSD card slot, and dual front-facing stereo speaker with BoomSound enhancements.
Like the front, the rear of the phone also sports a 13MP wide-angle camera sensor along with dual-colour LED flash. On the connectivity front, the Desire Eye packs NFC, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and 4G LTE support.
According to HTC, the Desire Eye will be rolled-out in the markets across the global beginning October but an exact release date for India is unknown. The company has stated that it will be AT&T exclusive in the US and Three exclusive in UK. Being the flagship Desire-series model, we expect it to carry a hefty-price tag, probably in the range of $500-$600 (without contract).
