YotaPhoneUAE-based Jumbo Electronics, which exclusively distributes YotaPhone in Middle-East, has tied-up with Indian e-retailer Flipkart to launch the dual-display smartphone in India. This phone will be available beginning tomorrow exclusively at Flipkart.com for INR 23,499.

“Flipkart has established itself as a go-to destination for leading global and domestic brands who want to engage with a wide range of customers in India. Yet again, we bring an exclusive partnership with an innovative and one of its kind smartphone for the Indian audience. This is in continuation of our commitment to bring world-class products to our customers backed by our superior service,” said Michael Adnani, VP, Retail & Head – Brand Alliances, Flipkart.

Originally introduced CES 2013, the first-gen YotaPhone first went on sale in late-2013 and has since been reaching new markets. It is known for its dual-display set-up, where a normal 4.3-inch LCD panel graces the front of the phone, while a 4.3-inch e-ink panel is present on the back.  According to Yota Devices, which is the company behind this smartphone, the e-ink display is always-on and can be used to show calendar appointments, stocks, weather, social media updates, and notifications as well as to read e-books. The consumers can also use it to simply display an image, motivational quotes or to just mirror something from the LCD display for later-viewing.

Among other specifications, YotaPhone features 1.7GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor, Android 4.2.2, 2GB of RAM, 32GB of internal storage, 13MP rear camera, 1MP front shooter and 1800 mAh battery. The LCD panel sports 720p HD resolution, however the e-ink panel comes with 640x360p resolution.
