Huawei announces Honor 6 Plus with dual-rear cameras

Huawei Honor 6 PlusHuawei on Tuesday took the wraps off the new Honor 6 Plus smartphone at a press event in Beijing. A bigger cousin to the company’s previously introduced Honor 6, the 6 Plus sports dual 8MP rear cameras, which the company claims will help in increasing the effective pixel size to 1.98 microns, resulting in cleaner and nicer images.

Huawei states that the dual-sensor set-up will also allow the consumers to re-focus the objects in the image, tweak the aperture and do more even after capture the photos. Like the impressive rear-camera set-up, the company has included an 8MP front camera for better selfies.

Among other specifications, Huawei Honor 6 Plus features a 5.5-inch full HD LCD, Kirin 925 octa-core processor, 3GB of RAM, and 3600 mAh battery. In addition, the phone packs microSD card slot, which also doubles as a second SIM card slot, 4G LTE support (optional), NFC (optional) and IR LED. On the software front, Huawei has included Android 4.4 on the phone with EMUI 3.0.

There is no word on the exact availability, but Huawei has revealed that the 16GB 3G version of Honor 6 Plus will retail for 1,999 yuan ($320) and the 4G 32B version will cost 2,499 yuan ($400) in China.

Huawei Honor 4X

The company also unveiled a new variant of its already official Honor 4X smartphone at this event. This version is powered by 64-bit octa-core Kirin 620 processor, instead of the Snapdragon 410 present in the original.

Rest of the specifications of the phone are same as the original – 5.5-inch HD IPS display, 13MP rear camera, 5MP front camera, 3000 mAH battery, Android 4.4, 2GB of RAM, 8GB of internal storage and microSD card slot.

It will go on sale tomorrow in China for 1299 yuan ($212).
