News Briefs: Xiaomi invests in US-based wearables maker Misfit

Xiaomi logoUS-based wearables maker Misfit has announced that it recently raised $40 million in funding round, which was participated by Xiaomi, GGV Capital, Shunwei, JD.com and existing investors. This is the first time Xiaomi has invested in a US-based start-up, but the company has been on an investment spree for the past few months, so the move is hardly surprising.

Xiaomi investor Hans Tung has joined the Misfit board of directors, reports Techcrunch.

XOLO to preload 6degrees’ contacts app on its phones

Indian smartphone vendor XOLO has partnered with mobile app developer 6degrees to preload its contacts app on its Android smartphones. This app is also available as a free download from Google Play. The partnership will give the app developers access to a huge set of consumers, who otherwise would have never heard or installed the app on their phone.
