Xiaomi on Monday announced that its budget fitness tracker Mi Band has been a hit among the Chinese consumers and it has sold over 1 million trackers in just 100 days. The Mi Band was originally put on sale on August 18 and is currently only available in China. It retails at 79 yuan ($13)
To put the Mi Band sales in perspective, research firm Canalys notes that around 5 million wearable bands were shipped worldwide during the Q3, 2014. The Canalys figure doesn’t include the Mi Band sales, as today is the first time Xiaomi has revealed the sales data for the fitness tracker.
According to Xiaomi, it will begin the Mi Band sales in Taiwan and Hong Kong tomorrow and the fitness tracker will reach more markets in the coming months. The expanded availability will certainly help the company sell many more smart bands.
