Bloomberg’s claim is in contrast with previous leaks, which had pegged the front shooter to be a normal 13MP sensor. It is possible that HTC is testing two versions of the phone, one with 13MP sensor and other with 4MP Ultrapixel sensor and only one of these will make it to the market.
Apart from the front shooter, Bloomberg also notes that the One (M8) successor will include Dolby 5.1 audio technology and will resemble the M8 in size and design. In addition, the phone will come with 20MP rear camera sensor, Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 octa-core processor and HTC Sense 7.0 UI, as sighted in AnTuTu benchmark database earlier.
No other details are available at this point, however Bloomberg does state that like M8, the successor will also be released in Gold, Silver and Grey colour options.
According to Bloomberg, the One (M8) successor will be joined by HTC’s first smartwatch on March 1, but not details about the watch are known at this point. It will most likely run on Android Wear and come with a metal chassis.
