The first Kodak-branded smartphone is here. Bullitt Mobile & Kodak on Monday unveiled the new IM5 smartphone at CES 2015 trade fair in Las Vegas. Made by Bullitt, this 5-inch smartphone will go on sale beginning the end of Q1, 2015 in Europe, followed by other markets.
“This is a phone for consumers who appreciate the value and heritage of the Kodak brand. It looks great, is easy to use and offers real value for money,” said Oliver Schulte, CEO of Bullitt Mobile.
Coming to the specifications, the Kodak IM5 features a HD display, 1.7GHz octa-core processor, 1GB of RAM, 8GB of internal storage and microSD card slot. On the imaging front, the phone packs a 13MP rear camera with auto-focus and LED flash as well as a 5MP front shooter.
Being Kodak branded phone, one would expect the phone to have some great imaging functions, but that doesn’t seem to be the case here. The phone, however, does include an image management software, which allows the users to quickly edit photographs, share on social media or print using a customized app compatible with home printers.
Other software tweaks in the phone include a simple user interface, remote management app as well as a curated app store (in addition to Google Play.
According to Kodak, the phone will be released in white or black colour options. There is no word on the pricing.
