LG G Flex 2 is official, Snapdragon 810 & curved display in tow

First real 64-bit Android smartphone

LG G Flex 2As expected, LG has unveiled its new G Flex 2 smartphone at the ongoing CES 2015 trade fair. A successor to the company’s first curved-screen phone, LG G Flex 2 also comes with a 5.5-inch curved full HD P-OLED display.

“The original G Flex demonstrated LG’s pioneering spirit and with the G Flex2 we have refined the curved form factor, staying true to our philosophy of innovation for a better life. The G Flex2 not only has the stunning looks, it also has the powerful guts to be at the cutting edge of current smartphone technology. Simply put, it’s a true head-turner in every sense of the word,” said Juno Cho, president and CEO of the LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company.

LG G Flex 2 is powered by 2GHz 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 octa-core processor, 2GB of RAM, 16/32GB of internal storage, and microSD card slot. Other specifications of the phone include 3000 mAh battery, 13MP rear camera with laser auto-focus, & OIS+, 2.1MP front shooter and 4G LTE support. The smartphone runs on Android 5.0 Lollipop and includes software tweaks like Gesture shot, Gesture view, Glance View, and Fast Charge.

Like its predecessor, G Flex 2 also sports the self-healing back and the company has reduced the healing time to just 10 seconds at room temperature.

Availability

According to LG, the smartphone will be available beginning the end of January in South Korea, followed by other markets. The LG Flex 2 will be released in Platinum Silver, and Flamenco Red colour options.

    It’s good to see a company like LG take chances with new technology, despite their meager share in smartphone market they are adventurous enough to innovate, or maybe that’s exactly why they are trying. Anyhow good job LG.
