Update (2): Sony has now officially announced that both Sony SmartWatch 3 and SmartBand Talk devices are finally on sale in the country from Sony Centres and major electronics stores.
Update (1): The SmartBand Talk has also been priced on the Sony website and will retail for INR 12,990 in the country.
Earlier: A little later than expected, Sony’s SmartWatch 3 is finally ready for debut in the Indian market. According to Sony India website, this Android Wear smartwatch has been priced at INR 19,990 and will be available in the Black colour option.
There is still no word on the exact availability details or the pricing of the new Sony SmartWatch 3 Steel edition, which was announced at the Consumer Electronics Show 2015 earlier this month in Las Vegas.
At the given price-tag, Sony SmartWatch 3 is the most expensive Android Wear device to be released in the country. It was originally introduced in the country in September last year alongside Xperia Z3 and was supposed to go on sale sometime in December.
It features a 1.6-inch 320×320 square display, 1.2GHz quad-core processor, 512MB of RAM and 4GB of storage. The smartwatch also packs NFC, Bluetooth 4.0, 420 mAH battery, and water-resistance. The variant of the SmartWatch 3 being released in the market right now sports a plastic body with a metal back.
According to Sony, the main watch unit (known as core) is removable and can be used with others straps, which will be released by the company in different colour options. Sony also recently introduced a watch adapter, which allows the SmartWatch 3 to be used with any 22mm watch strap, but it is unclear if and when the adapter will reach Indian shores.
