Sony’s all 2015 Smart TVs will run Android TV

Sony Bravia Android TVSony revealed during its CES 2015 press conference that all of its 2015 Bravia Smart TVs will run on Android TV platform.  The company has not shared many details at this point, but from what we know so far, Sony will launch around 14 TV models as a part of various 4K and 2K line-ups.

“For the first time, these televisions (upcoming Sony Smart TVs) will support Google’s Android TV operating system, making it easy to stream video, function as a gaming device and provide enhanced features like voice-enabled searching through a remote equipped with a microphone. With access to Google Play, consumers can enjoy what they like to do on a smartphone or tablet, from their television. Additionally, Google Cast will provide users with greater connectivity than ever before by enabling them to cast content from devices in a similar way as is done with Google ChromeCast,” Sony noted in a press note.

Sony has stated all new Smart TV models will go on sale in Spring 2015 in the United States.

Here are the details of upcoming Sony Smart TVs with Android TV

XBR X900C Series 4K Ultra HD TV (55 and 65-inch models) and X910C (75-inch model):

  • Sony’s thinnest LED TV yet at 4.9mm (at its thinnest part); the revolutionary floating style is virtually frameless and mounts flush to your wall.
  • Features new X1 video processing engine to improve color accuracy, contrast and clarity of HD and 4K video.
  • Support’s Google’s Android TV operating system

XBR-X930C Series (65-inch model) and X940C (75-inch model):

  • Features new video X1 processing engine to improve color accuracy, contrast and clarity of HD and 4K video.
  • Support’s Google’s Android TV operating system
  • Powerful front-facing speakers (tweeters, woofers, and sub-woofers) produce clear dialog and deep bass while also supporting Hi-Res audio to compliment the Ultra HD picture.

XBR-X850C Series (55, 65 and 75-inch models):

2K Televisions:

  • The line-up will range in size from 50 to 75-inches. Models include the KDL-75W850C, KDL-65W850C, KDL-55W850C and KDL-50W850C.
