Samsung starts rolling out Android 5.0 update for Galaxy Alpha

Samsung Galaxy Alpha Lollipop updateSamsung has begun the roll-out of the Android 5.0 update for Galaxy Alpha (SM-G850) smartphone. The company is starting with its home market ‘South Korea’ and it is expected to release the update in other countries over the coming weeks.

According to a report in SamMobile, Samsung has rolled-out the update for Galaxy Alpha variants of all three major telecom operators in the country – KT, SKT and LG U+. The update is available over-the-air as well as via Samsung Kies application.

The official change-log is unavailable, but Galaxy Alpha users can expect the see UI improvements, performance enhancements, lock-screen enhancements and more on the phone. The software base is Android 5.0.2.

The Galaxy Alpha Lollipop update roll-out comes just days after Samsung released the update for Galaxy A3 smartphone in Russia and for Galaxy Tab S 8.4 in South Korea.

None of these updates have reached India, but we expect them to arrive soon. As always, we will keep you guys in the loop.
