Cyanogen to open India office in next three months

Cyanogen Inc logoUS-based Cyanogen is reportedly planning to open an office in India in the next three months. According to The Economic Times, the company is looking at New Delhi and Bengaluru to set-up the office and the Indian team will mainly work on product development.

“India is very attractive. It is one of the hyper-growth markets for mobile today,” Vikram Natarajan, senior vice-president of global partnerships and distribution at Cyanogen, told ET.

ET report also notes that Cyanogen is expecting to hire as many as 50 people for the India operations, but the company will initially start with a small team and expand it over the year.

To remind you, Cyanogen spun-off from CyanogenMod open-source project in 2013. It currently offers Android-based Cyanogen OS to the device vendors like Yu Televentures, Blu Mobiles and Alcatel OneTouch. It recently secured an investment from Foxconn, Premji Invest, Twitter Ventures, and Qualcomm. The company plans to use part of this investment to acquire start-ups in the country for talent.
