Google makes it easier to find family-friendly content on Google Play

In addition to Android M, Android Pay and Photos, Google announced at the I/O conference that it is making Google Play family-friendly. A fruit of the company’s “Designed for Families” developer program, the new family-friendly experience will roll-out to Play Store on Android devices around the world over the next couple of weeks.

What is changing in the Google Play?

Google has noted that it is making it easier for the consumers to find family-friendly content by adding new features for browsing apps and other content by age and interests. The company is also adding more useful information about content on Play Store, which will help you decide what’s right for your family.Google Play family tabs

  • You can now tap Family button in Apps, Games and Movies/ TV to browse new family-friendly experiences, while the Books section will include a Children’s Books button. Also, top charts, recommendations, and even searches from family homepages are filtered to family-friendly catalogue.
  • Google has also created character pages to help you find content related to your favourite characters like PBS KIDS, Pororo and Peppa Pig.
  • The search giant is also introducing the family star badges, which offer the specific age range of any app, movie or book. There are also labels for telling you when family apps are ad-supported. In addition, Google Play has updated parental controls to restrict downloads, purchases or streaming of mature content.
