OUYA ships early backer consoles, available in retail on June 4

OUYA, the Kickstarter funded $99 Android gaming console, has started shipping to the early backers and the deliveries will continue over the next few weeks. Chances are that early backers will start receiving their tracking numbers anytime now and the device should ideally land on their door-steps in the coming 5-10 days depending on locations.

Ouya to start shipping to Kickstarter backers on March 28

ouyaOuya has announced that it will begin shipping its Android powered gaming console for Kickstarter backers on March 28. Company also revealed that it is still on schedule for the full launch in June.

“OUYAs will begin shipping to Kickstarter backers on March 28. That’s right. Parts are in the factory and assembly lines are buzzing. OUYA Android game console set to reach retailers in June

The Kickstarter funded OUYA game console is all set to be available in open market via retailers like Amazon, Best Buy, Target and Gamestop in the United States.  The console will be sold at $100 in June 2013, claims Digits, a Wall Street Journal blog.

The company will also be selling additional controllers for $50 via retailers, which is $20 than what OUYA is asking on its website.

To remind you, OUYA raised more than $8.5 million from a Kickstarter campaign and has already been taking pre-orders on its website. According to OUYA CEO Julie Uhrman, it already has more than 68,000 consoles on order but did not specify the exact number. Read more about OUYA Android game console set to reach retailers in June
