Xiaomi Mi-3After announcing its entry in the Malaysian market last month, Xiaomi held a press event in Kuala Lumpur earlier today to officially launch Mi 3 and RedMi 1S smartphones in the country. While Mi 3 goes on sale tomorrow at 12PM, RedMi 1S will be released next month.

On the pricing front, the Mi 3 will be sold for RM 889, however the exact pricing of Redmi 1S is unclear right now but will most probably be around RM 413.

The Chinese smartphone maker will be retailing the smartphone via its own web store as well as through telecom operators Celcom, Maxis and Digi. There will only be 4,000 Mi 3 units on sale tomorrow via Xiaomi web store. More units are expected in the coming weeks.

To remind you, Xiaomi Mi 3, which was originally introduced last year, comes with 5-inch full HD display, 2.3GHz quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor, 2GB of RAM, and 16GB of internal storage. The phone also packs 13MP rear camera, 2MP front camera, 3050 mAh battery and Android 4.33 based MIUI firmware.  According to Xiaomi, Android 4.4 based MIUI firmware is already under-testing and will be released in the coming weeks.Xiaomi Hongmi 1S

Coming to Xiaomi Redmi 1S (aka HongMi 1S), the smartphone packs 4.7-inch 720p HD display, 1.6GHz Snapdragon 400 quad-core processor, Android 4.3-based MIUI V5, 8MP rear camera, 1.6MP front camera and dual-SIM support. The phone also comes with 8GB of internal storage, microSD card slot, 2000 mAh battery, Bluetooth 4.0, USB OTG, and Wi-Fi.

  • The company will also be launching RedMi Note and Mi Pad in Malaysia soon.
