Samsung Russia has officially launched another Android smartphone in the country. Dubbed as Galaxy S 2011 Edition, this phone brings a series of improvements from original Galaxy S.
MTS launches Android phone with Russian positioning technology GLONASS
As reported earlier by us, MTS launched the first Android smartphone with Russian positioning technology GLONASS. Dubbed as MTS Glonass 945, it has been manufactured by Chinese OEM ZTE.
Along with GLONASS, this smartphone also support traditional GPS. Russia has been developing GLONASS — its answer to the U.S.-Air Force operated GPS — since 1976. Having spent $2 billion in the last 10 years, it is expected to provide a comparable service to GPS next year.

Well, Russians are finally ready with first home-made smartphone, and it runs Android. Apart from being the first smartphone by Russians, it is also the first smartphone to integrate GLONASS/GPS chip. On paper, this double navigation system is 93 per cent accurate, as opposed to GPS’s 64 per cent.

Google Nexus S Russia launch in Feb 2011
Samsung just announced that Google Nexus S will be available in Russia next year in February. Russian version of Nexus S will not have the Super AMOLED display, which is available in US and UK versions, rather it will have Super Clear LCD.
You can blame the S-AMOLED display shortages for this. Nexus S comes with Android 2.3, 1Ghz processor, 4 inch display, 16 GB Intenal Memory, NFC support, 5 MP rear camera with a front facing VGA camera. More on Nexus S here.
